Emily Richardson
Director of Christian Challenge

Emily began following Jesus as her Lord while studying nursing at the University of Nebraska. She saw the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20) lived out among the staff and students of the Baptist campus ministry where she grew in her faith. Emily spent two years in Nigeria teaching nursing, working in a rural bush hospital, and doing college ministry at a local teacher’s college. Upon returning to the US, she married Kevin and they worked with students at UNL, with plans to return to West Africa. The Lord redirected their steps and they moved to Michigan in 1990 and began a ministry to students at UM, EMU and WCC. The vision and mission of Christian Challenge is to be Great Commission and Great Commandment believers: people who Love Jesus and Love People and are willing to go to the ends of the earth to give every person the opportunity to hear the life-giving Gospel message and follow Jesus. In 2021, Kevin began working full time in missions mobilization and Emily became the Christian Challenge director. When she's not meeting with students, you'll find her working in her yard or playing with her grandkids.
